  • Pennsylvania Sunset

I saw this sunset while visiting Faithe and Wendell Zercher in Harrisburg, PA this summer.  The clouds and glow stuck with me and I had to try to paint it. Its impossible to completely capture light with paint, but this is my attempt.

  • Des Moines Capitol Building

Sitting on the lawn listening to Simon Estes and the Des Moines Symphony, I looked back at the Capitol building as the light was waining.  It was the 4th of July celebration in Des Moines, Iowa.  Fireworks followed the concert.

  • Clarence Keller's Barn

There are fond memories on my wife's side of the family of the Keller cousins playing at the farm.  The place, the history, and memories of the things, the people, and the events makes it significant.  You can't feel the same way about a large corporation that owns farmland.

  • Lafayette Reservoir

My first visit to the Lafayette Reservoir, Lafayette, CA.  I see its a place I can return to for fishing.  I saw quite a few fishermen there.  I walked the 2.7 miles around and saw at least another painting to do there. This is done on 22x30" Arches cold press paper. SOLD

  • WAPANA

The WAPANA used to carry lumber up and down the West Coast in the 1930s.  Its falling apart on a barge in the Port of Richmond, CA.  I understand that it belongs to the Park Service and it was trying to restore it, but it was deteriorating faster than they could fix it. From a distance, it looks like it might be Noah's Arc.  I think my painting makes it look better than it really is, there is a lot of rot evident everywhere. Perhaps someone with money will be inspired to restore it.
