  • Mount Diablo Dusk

I went looking for a view of Mount Tamalpais on the Panoramic Highway in Mill Valley, CA. From there, I could see across the San Francisco Bay to Mount Diablo

  • China Beach San Francisco

A beautiful sunny Sunday Afternoon at China Beach. Swimmers were yelling pointing out dolphins nearby. 10x14" plein air painting on Fabriano 300 lb. rough paper donated by Larry Cannon

  • Panama to Benicia Earthmoving

The story goes that this earthmoving machine was used in building the Panama Canal.  How it got to Phil Joy's Boatyard in Benicia, I have no idea. But here it is on a gray day with sun lighting it up through the clouds.

  • Three Men in a Boat

I have been wanting to do a painting of someone fishing since I have taken up fishing again after over 50 years.  This was from my experience at the Lafayette Reservoir this fall. The water was calm and reflected the fall colors from the surrounding hills.

  • Mare Island Cranes

Plein air sketch of some cranes at the historic Mare Island shipyards. This  former Navy shipyard dates to before the Civil War. Submarines were the last ships built here. One of the sobering facts I learned was that one of the atomic bombs, Little Boy, was loaded on a ship here and transported to Tinian Island to be loaded on a B-29 Bomber.

  • A Rich Man's Tomb

This was an image that caught my eye when our small group of painters was on the theme of Portals.  This second attempt came out much better. The site is Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA
