Drawings

"But is it not rather art that rescues nature from the weary and sated regards of our senses, and degrading injustice of our anxious every-day life, and appealing to the imagination, which dwells apart, renews nature in some degree as she really is, and as she represents herself to the eye of a child, ...

George Macdonald 1858

This current series of trees, except for the Fantastic Olive, is from Sobrante Ridge.

  • Oak on River Drive

    NFS

This weather beaten large Oak was in Davenport, Iowa on River Drive overlooking the Mississippi River. I went back to visit it last summer and it had been cut down.  Perhaps it was endangering the houses on either side. But I was unhappy not to find it.  I am so glad that I drew it when I did.

  • Dancing Blue Spruce

This delightful tree between junpers is in my neighborhood.  I couldn't resist drawing it. It is so full of life.

  • Arch & Lamp

I found this scene at a private school in Bettendorf, Iowa.  I believe its called River View School.  It overlooks the Mississippi River.

  • Deodar Cedar

This Deodar Cedar is on the corner of Rain Cloud Drive and Silver Belt Drive in El Sobrante, CA.  What you see is mainly the top of the tree. The pattern of the branches seemed like music to me.

  • Broken Oak Trail Oaks

These Oaks are at the end of Broken Oak Trail on Sobrante Ridge.  I ran into a huge rattlesnake on the way to draw that day.  Other drawings are of the two side trees seen here.

  • Broken Oak Tree

    SOLD

One of the side trees in the Broken Oak Trail Oaks drawing.  It seemed to reach out for its own drawing
