  • Croagh Patrick

Saint Patrick is said to have fasted on this mountain. That would be about 1600 years ago. People still make pilgrimages there. You can see a faint path near the summit. There is a well attended Easter service near the top each year.  This is a large watercolor painting 20x29" on Arches 300 lb. rough paper.

  • Saint Muirdealach's 16th c. Church

This crumbling church from the 1500s is just outside the Wee House of Malin, a Hermit's cave. Its a few miles East of Malin Head, the Northern most point in Ireland. It is said that there was a cursing rock there and a healing well under a stone.  The well was used by Saint Muirdealach for baptisms. It is still a pigrimage site.

  • Campanile Trinity College Dublin

Another painting from our trip to Ireland.  On one of the few sunny days we had, I spotted the campanile and students through an archway.

  • Malin Head Rock

On the North Coast of Ireland, near the Wee House of Malin is a pebble beach and a rocky coast. This is one of the rocks. There is a very old ruins of a church and the Wee House, which is a Hermit's cave.

  • Derelict Boats at Nimmo's Pier

I did a plein air painting at Nimmo's Pier, Galway, Ireland. These old rotting boats were interesting, but I wan't entirely happy with that painting, so this is a studio painting. Boats always seem like a good metaphor for our precarious life.

  • Dunluce Castle 2

This view is from the East.  The Castle is on the North Coast of Northern Ireland.  It was abandoned after the kitchen and staff fell into the sea.  From this view, you can imagine that happening.
